St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues were granted a National Hockey League contract in 1967. One of the owners recommended the name, St. Louis Blues, to pay tribute to the city’s origin in the blues as a musical flair. The team participated in playing its games at the St. Louis Arena for 28 seasons.

The Blues relocated to the Scottrade Center, a more modern facility with a seating capacity of 20,000 in October 1994.

The St. Louis Blues are the only National Hockey League team to reach the playoff status every year from 1980-2000.

The St. Louis Blues forwards are David Backes, Brad Boyce, Dan Hinote, Cam Janssen, Paul Kariya, D.J. King, Jay McClement, Andy McDonald, David Perron, Yan Stastny, Lee Stempniak and Keith Tkachuk. The defensemen are Eric Brewer, Barret Jackman, Eric Johnson, Jay McKee and Jeff Woywitka. The goalies are Manny Legace and Chris Mason. The St. Louis Blues have never participated in the Stanley Cup or the Conference Championships.

The St. Louis Blues were in the Division Championship in 1986-69, 1969-1970, 1976-77, 1980-81, 1984-85, 1986-87, and 1999-00.

Eric Brewer was picked as the 19th Captain in Blues history on February 8, 2008. As Captain of the Blues, Ed took on a greater accountability at his job and turn out to be a father two days later. He was allowed to spend several days with his family. However, Brewer was so dedicated that he returned the following day to be united with his team in Dallas.

With only two months of knowledge and understanding as the team’s captain, he now can begin the 2008-09 seasons being able to recognize and lead his team to victory.
